💡Measles
-
Overview: Since January 1, 2025, 12% of measles cases in the US have been hospitalized. Healthcare providers should continue to stay alert for measles cases and take appropriate measures if they suspect a patient has measles or was exposed to measles.

-
VDH Recommendations:
- Make sure patients are up to date on measles vaccine, especially before international travel, regardless of destination.
-
If you suspect measles:
- Follow CDC guidance for preventing and controlling measles in healthcare settings.
- Immediately notify your local health department to ensure rapid testing and investigation.
- Collect samples for testing.
- Manage patients with supportive care.
