The National Rural Health Resource Center's 2025 update to its Population Health Toolkit which includes the most current population health data from a half-dozen publicly available datasets — is now available online.

Developed and maintained with support from the Health Resources and Services Administration's Federal Office of Rural Health Policy, the toolkit is designed to assist State Offices of Rural Health (SORHs), state Flex Programs and individual health care facilities as they seek to better understand, manage and improve population health in their communities and state.

Three ways the new administration could invest in rural America

According to stakeholders, the new administration can invest in rural America by working to improve access to health care by expanding telehealth and keeping rural hospitals open, as well as ensuring access to affordable housing and local ownership of land. Additionally, NRHA CEO Alan Morgan recently expressed support for two bills that aim to boost rural emergency room access and support critical access hospitals. First Lady Suzanne S. Youngkin unveiled the expanded website resources to promote overdose education and increase access to life-saving resources as part of her It Only Takes One initiative.

HRSA Rural Maternity and Obstetrics Management Strategies Program (Rural MOMS) 

The Rural Maternity and Obstetrics Management Strategies (Rural MOMS) Program from HRSA's Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP), is open and accepting applications for the program’s 4-year period of performance (September 30, 2025 - September 29, 2029).  HRSA award up to 3 cooperative agreements for up to $1,000,000 per year, to provide support to establish innovative, collaborative rural obstetric networks to improve maternity care and access to care in rural communities.
