The BRHD Outreach Network will have its first Advisory Committee meeting on October 25. We will meet virtually from 2:00 - 3:00 PM via Microsoft Teams. The purpose of the Outreach Network Advisory Committee (ONAC) is to share ideas to strengthen and sustain the Outreach Network. It is open to all outreach workers in our District! Breastfeeding Education Workshop
UVA Health and BRHD are partnering to host a free Breastfeeding Education Workshop on Saturday, October 12 from 9 AM - 4 PM at The Center at Belvedere (540 Belvedere Blvd., Charlottesville, VA 22901).
This workshop will cover a variety of topics related to breastfeeding, and is open to any outreach workers supporting families through pregnancy and postpartum.

4th Annual Conference of the Community Health Workers Association
The Virginia Community Health Worker Association (VACHWA) is holding their 4th Annual Conference of the Community Health Workers Association on Thursday, October 24 from 9 AM - 9 PM at Delta Hotels in Downtown Richmond (555 E Canal St, Richmond, VA 23219).
This one-day conference celebrates and promotes the roles of community health workers. Visit the event webpage for additional details and to register. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
Region Ten is hosting a two-day Applied Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) on October 24 & 25 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at their Community Service Board location (500 Lynchburg Rd., Charlottesville, VA 22902) in Conference Room 500A.
ASIST is the most widely used intervention skills workshop in the U.S. It is a two-day intensive and practice-dominated course designed to help participants:
1. Recognize risk for suicide. 2. Intervene to prevent immediate harm. 3. Create a "safety for now" plan. 4. Link persons with thoughts of suicide to appropriate help and community resources.
Registration is required- fill out this form to RSVP. ASIST certification is available- participants must attend the entirety of both workshop days in order to receive certification.

Trauma-Informed Certification Training
Region Ten is hosting a Trauma-Informed Care Training on October 30 from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM at their Community Service Board location (500 Lynchburg Rd., Charlottesville, VA 22902).
Created by the Community Resilience Initiative (CRI), this 6-hour first course covers NEAR Science (Neuroscience, Epigenetics, ACE Study, Resilience), brain states, & ROLES strategies for individuals seeking a trauma-informed certification. Participants must complete Course 1 in order to enroll in Course 2 this December.
Registration is required- fill out this form to RSVP. Registration will close at 12 PM on October 29. Participants must complete Course 1 in order to enroll in Course 2 this December.
