Join us to celebrate the longest day of the year aka the Summer Solstice. We will have a rundown of free activities like morning yoga, tree climbing, gaming truck, foam parties, movie night and more!
Little Seedlings Camp
This camp is designed for kids to discover the outdoors one mud-puddle, bird sound, or quiet step in the forest at a time. The flow of each day will include morning circle, music, storytelling and movement, a nature walk, art activity, and a picnic lunch before pick up at 1pm. Children will learn how to work within a group of peers, enhance listening skills with music exercises, and do hands-on crafts and nature exploration with skilled teachers. Please pack a bagged lunch, water bottle, and extra change of clothes for your child/ren each day. Children must be potty trained in order to attend this program. Instructor: Samantha Campbell of ‘Hey Ho Let’s Grow’. Ages 2-5. MHP, 9am-1pm, Monday–Friday. Price: $150/week.

Japanese Swordsmanship
Two styles of Japanese Swordsmanship are offered!! Kendo & Seiteigata Iaido. Kendo is a form of Japanese fencing with lots of sparring and paired training. Kendo is more than just learning to swing a sword. It is also about proper discipline and spirit. Iaido is the Japanese sword art of drawing and cutting in one motion. This is a solo art and is a great martial art for mental concentration. Equipment will be provided. Instructor: John Smitka. GHPGC, Iaido 6:30pm-7:30pm, Kendo 7:30pm–9pm, Wednesdays. Join monthly sessions beginning 1st Wednesday of each month. Price: $65/month
TRIAD
Triad is a cooperative effort focused on reducing fraud/crimes against our senior community. All meetings are free, open to the public and refreshments will be served. MHPA, 2pm–3pm, June 26. Price: FREE!
Doyles River Trail and Waterfall Hike in Shenandoah Ntl. Park
Hike down to the Doyles River waterfall, snack or picnic lunch, and then return. This 3.3 mile hike is considered Moderate (Generally suitable for novice hikers seeking a bit of a challenge). We will also talk about general outdoor and hiking safety. A What to Bring list, a link to the Medical Form/Participant Agreement, and driving directions will be supplied after registration. Come prepared for an entry fee into SNP (or bring your National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass). Friday, June 27, 9am–1pm. Price: $25/person (not including entry fee). Register by: June 20
Family Night Flix - Paddington in Peru

1st Annual “It’s a BIG DILL” Pickleball Tournament
“It’s a BIG DILL” will have three divisions: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced to provide opportunities for all levels to compete. Prizes will be provided for 1st and 2nd Place finishers in each division. Ages 16+. Instructors: Shenandoah Valley Pickleball. MHP, Saturday, June 7 (matches begin at 9am. Flame Fitness
Get together with your friends and family and boost your summer fitness routine with this Saturday morning outdoor cardio and strengthening fitness bootcamp at Gypsy Hill Park. Sessions will challenge every part of your body in a fun way with basic to intermediate exercises utilizing equipment like dumbbells, kettlebells, slam balls, and jump ropes. Exercises are designed for beginner to intermediate fitness levels and advanced participants can opt into staying for the extended cardio burn from 10:30am-11:30am. Please bring properly fitted athletic shoes, a water bottle, yoga mat or towel for floor activities, and an attitude ready for fun! At the end of your workout, you’ll receive Nutrition Coaching tips and tricks to help aid your summer fitness goals! Instructor: Jocelyn Jazwinski of Flame Fitness. Beginner Rock Climbing and Rappelling in the George Washington Ntl. Forest
A full day of learning to climb, belay, and rappel! Ages 12 through adult (teens may attend unaccompanied, but transportation must be provided by parent or guardian). All technical gear is provided. After registration, a personal What to Bring list, Medical Form/Participant Agreement, and driving directions to the activity meetup will be supplied by WILD GUYde Adventures after registration.Saturday, June 28, 9am–5pm. Nature Walks w/ Sancta Natura
We will walk the road along the forest edges and then through the forest, learning about flora and fauna we encounter. We may encounter notable butterflies, and we’ll learn about important plants of mountainous parts in Virginia along the way. This walk is for naturalists of all levels and ages, including accompanied children. It is for those able to handle moderate strenuous activity, as we will cover approximately 1.5 miles, and much of the walk will be sloped. Things to bring: Sun protection-insect repellent-water-binoculars/camera (highly recommended). Instructor: Tom Wyatt of Sancta Natura. MHP, 8:30am–10:30am, June 21.Price: FREE. Register by: June 15

The City maintains an 18-hole, par 71 municipal golf course in Gypsy Hill Park that is open to members as well as nonmembers year round. The course boasts the most affordable rates in the Shenandoah Valley.
