Leesburg Police Investigating Incident After Guitar Thrown Through Patrol Vehicle Windshield

Leesburg, VA (June 26, 2026) – The Leesburg Police Department is investigating a dangerous incident that occurred early this morning while an officer was responding to a call for service in downtown Leesburg.

At approximately 2:51 a.m., a Leesburg Police officer was driving through the downtown area when a guitar was thrown from the vicinity of 0 block S. King Street, striking the patrol vehicle. The guitar penetrated the windshield, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

Fortunately, the officer was not injured.

Throwing an object at a moving vehicle, particularly one occupied by a police officer responding to a call for service, creates an extreme risk of serious injury or death. Had the guitar struck the officer directly or caused the officer to lose control of the vehicle, the outcome could have been tragic for the officer, other motorists, pedestrians, or members of the community.

The incident remains under investigation. Detectives are working to identify the individual or individuals responsible.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to identify the individuals involved.
