Leesburg, VA (October 14, 2025) – Mayor Kelly Burk has been elected President-Elect of the Virginia Municipal League Board of Directors.
Mayor Burk’s term became effective at VML’s Annual Conference, which was held over the weekend in Roanoke. She has served on VML’s Board of Directors since 2019.
The President-Elect of the VML Board automatically moves to President of the organization the following year. The President-Elect is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the program for the annual meeting and other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors. Mayor Burk’s term as President will begin next October when the Virginia Municipal League convenes for its annual conference in Norfolk.
“I am honored to receive the support of my peers in VML in being elected President-Elect,” Mayor Burk stated. “VML is an influential organization that helps to advocate for local governments across the Commonwealth, including towns like Leesburg, at the General Assembly. I am excited to further raise the profile of the Town of Leesburg as President-Elect.”
VML’s Board of Directors oversees the activities of the league, which is a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan association of city, town, and county governments established in 1905 to improve and assist local governments through legislative advocacy, research, education, and other services. Representatives of the Board must be elected or appointed officials of a city, town, or county that is a member of VML. Current membership includes 38 cities, 170 towns, and nine counties across Virginia.
