Town of Leesburg Issues Warning About Scam Letter

Scam Letter

Leesburg, VA (February 6, 2025) The Town of Leesburg and the Leesburg Police Department have been made aware of reports of local residents receiving a letter purporting to be from the federal Office of Management and Budget.

The letter informs recipients of government benefits that they must appear for job training classes to be held at Ida Lee Park Recreation Center to account for the job vacancies resulting from federal deportations.

Some patrons of Ida Lee Park Recreation Center have informed staff they have received this letter, but at this time the Town is not aware of how widespread the letter has been distributed. The letter concludes by threatening IRS action against those who ignore it.

Both the Town government and the Leesburg Police Department would like to emphasize that these letters are fabricated, and there are no job training classes to be held at Ida Lee Park Recreation Center.
