LPD Investigating Multiple Theft from Motor Vehicle & Vehicle Tampering Incidents / Video Surveillance Released

Leesburg, VA (February 8, 2024) – The Leesburg Police Department is investigating multiple thefts from vehicles and tampering incidents that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

Detectives are investigating 26 reported incidents that occurred in the Northeast part of the Town of Leesburg. Of the 26 vehicles involved, 14 were entered and had items taken. None of the entered vehicles were believed to be locked. Items that were taken include a handgun, money, wallet, purse, credit cards, and gift cards. Video Surveillance Link

• Barksdale Drive, NE
• Bugle Court, NE
• Burt Court, NE
• Cambria Terrace, NE
• Chickasaw Place, NE
• Featherstone Lane, NE
• Haversack Court, NE
• Hunton Place, NE
• Keokuk Terrace, NE
• Shanks Evans Road, NE
• Stonefield Square, NE
• Tennessee Drive, NE
• Woodbridge Court, NE

By following these simple yet effective guidelines, we can reduce the risk of vehicle break-ins.
1. Lock Your Vehicle: Always ensure your vehicle is locked, regardless of whether you’re parked in a public or private area.

2. Secure Valuables: Remove all valuable items from plain view or store them in the trunk.

3. Firearms: Ensure your firearm is properly secured and stored in a locked safe inside your residence.

4. Consider Installing Security Cameras and Motion Sensor Lighting: There are many makes and models on the market that are affordable.

5. Stay Alert: Report any suspicious activity or individuals loitering around parked vehicles to law enforcement immediately.
