Leesburg Police Investigate Armed Robbery
Leesburg, VA – On Thursday, January 14, 2020 at approximately 5:28 PM, Leesburg Police Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE for a report of a subject brandishing a firearm. Officers responded, however they were unable to locate the subject. Shortly thereafter at approximately 5:41 PM, LPD officers were called back to the apartment complex for a report of an armed robbery that had occurred 15 to 20 minutes prior, involving a suspect matching the description from the brandishing call. It was determined that the suspect assaulted the robbery victim and took an undetermined amount of US currency and personal property from the victim, before fleeing the area in a vehicle. Through an investigation, it has been determined that the suspect was known to the robbery victim.
The incident remains under investigation by the Leesburg Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.
