Residents, Business Owners Encouraged to Observe Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
The annual event recognizes law enforcement officials who protect their local communities on a daily basis.
Leesburg, VA (January 8, 2021) – On Saturday, January 9, the Town of Leesburg will join partnering organizations, throughout the nation, in promoting National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.).
This annual event recognizes law enforcement officers who are dedicated to protecting their local communities on a daily basis.
"Leesburg is proud to have such an outstanding police department being led by Chief Brown,” said Leesburg Mayor Kelly Burk. “This is the least we can do to celebrate the brave men and women who, every day, protect and serve all our residents with dignity and justice and put their community first.”
Residents, schools, and businesses are encouraged to show their support by tying blue ribbons around trees in their yards or on their mailboxes and wearing blue as an additional sign of support and appreciation.
Members of the public are also invited to write thank you notes or letters of encouragement and drop them off at the police department, 65 Plaza Street NE, in Leesburg, for all department staff to enjoy.
