Christmas Tree Recycling Scheduled for Leesburg Residents

Patriot Disposal Services will provide two pickups for curbside trash customers in January.

Christmas Trees

Leesburg, VA (December 29, 2020) – Leesburg residents can put their live Christmas trees at the curb for recycling collection in January. The Town’s trash collection contractor, Patriot Disposal Services, will collect and recycle Christmas trees on the following days:

  • Monday, January 4, 2021
  • Monday, January 11, 2021

Residents should prepare their trees for collection, using the following tips:

  • Remove all decorations.
  • Remove tinsel, fake snow, angel hair, and garlands.
  • Remove all lights.
  • Remove all twine, metal, or plastic ties, and string.
  • Remove stands and bases.
  • Do not place trees in plastic tree disposal bags.
  • Place trees at the curb the night before collection day.

After these collection dates for recycling, Town crews will collect trees that are less than 8 feet tall and with trunks less than 6” in diameter during the regular Town brush collection. Trees should be set out on Sunday evening for same week collection. Any Christmas trees that are set out at the curb next to trash cans may be collected as trash by Patriot Disposal.
