Residents Reminded to Register for “Keep Leesburg Beautiful” Cleanup Challenge

The one day event will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

Keep Leesburg Beautiful

Leesburg, VA (October 1, 2020) – The Town of Leesburg would like to remind Leesburg residents to sign up for the “Keep Leesburg Beautiful” challenge on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

The annual campaign, which allows the public to get involved in cleaning up the Town, normally takes place during the month of April. Due to COVID-19, the original spring clean-up was cancelled.

Residents, community groups, and businesses are encouraged to participate in the challenge by conducting their own trash clean-up activity. At the conclusion of the challenge, participants will be encouraged to post selfies with the trash they collected to the Town’s Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram page using the hashtag #KeepLeesburgBeautiful.

The Town of Leesburg will provide safety vests, gloves, and trash bags, which can be picked up at the Liberty Street parking lot on the day of the event between 9 and 10 a.m. To avoid unnecessary interaction and congregation of participants, a drive-through will be set up.

Participants are reminded to wear masks and gloves during the challenge. Small groups, social distancing, and frequent hand washing is encouraged.

Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 are being asked to stay home. This restriction includes anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 ten days prior to the event or has been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
