Leesburg, VA (September 4, 2020) – It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the Leesburg Police Department’s 2020 Fiesta Latina community event due to concerns over the COVID-19 Pandemic. The annual community event is part of the Leesburg Police Department’s continued efforts to engage with members of the Latino and Hispanic communities, to hear the community’s perspective on what we are doing well, where we can improve, and what concerns they may have. The fall event normally includes a soccer tournament, snacks and drinks, informational and recruiting kiosks from LPD and community organizations, and bilingual officers to answer questions.
This difficult decision was made after consulting with community leaders and stakeholders, in order to safeguard our community and our officers. We appreciate your understanding during these unconventional times.

Leesburg, VA (4 de septiembre de 2020) - Con gran pesar anunciamos la cancelación del evento comunitario Fiesta Latina 2020 del Departamento de Policía de Leesburg debido a preocupaciones sobre la pandemia de COVID-19. El evento anual de la comunidad es parte de los esfuerzos continuos del Departamento de Policía de Leesburg para interactuar con los miembros de las comunidades latinas e hispanas, para escuchar la perspectiva de la comunidad sobre lo que estamos haciendo bien, dónde podemos mejorar y qué preocupaciones pueden tener. El evento de otoño normalmente incluye un torneo de fútbol, bocadillos y bebidas, kioscos informativos y de reclutamiento del Departamento de Policía y organizaciones comunitarias, y oficiales bilingües para responder preguntas.
Esta difícil decisión se tomó después de consultar con los líderes comunitarios y las partes interesadas, a fin de salvaguardar nuestra comunidad y nuestros funcionarios. Agradecemos su comprensión durante estos tiempos poco convencionales.
