Patriot Disposal Inc. Requests Residential Support in Trash Collections During COVID-19 Pandemic

Leesburg, VA (April 3, 2020) –  In response to the COVID-19 emergency, the Town’s trash contractor, Patriot Disposal, Inc., is asking residents to help prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria by following these guidelines:

  • Limit the quantity waste generated, so as to not overwhelm the collection system.
  • Bag all trash and refuse in the Toters.
  • Do not put additional trash next to the Toters. If trash does not fit in the Toter, hold it back for the next collection.
  • Continue to place recycling loose in the Toters, but rinse and drain bottles, cans and other recyclable containers.
  • Disinfect Toter handles and lids before and after each collection.

These guidelines will help protect Patriot’s workers from unnecessary exposure to viruses and bacteria during collection operations.

“Our solid waste employees play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our community as they move from house to house to collect, transport, and dispose of waste,” said Patriot Manager Gregg Walbridge. “We appreciate the public’s cooperation in following these guidelines.”

Town staff will continue to work with Patriot Disposal to ensure that essential services continue uninterrupted during this difficult time. Anyone with questions should contact Patriot Disposal directly by calling 703-771-6677 or by email at leesburgsupport@patriotdisposalservices.com.
