New Trash & Recycling

Patriot
Disposal Services is the Town’s new trash hauler.
Leesburg, VA (June
14, 2018) – At their
meeting on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, the Leesburg Town Council awarded the Town’s
solid waste disposal contract to Patriot Disposal Services. The new contract
begins on July 1, 2018.
Under the new contract, residents
will receive trash, recycling, yard waste, and bulk item collection once a
week. Collection days are changing for most residents. The new collection
schedule is:

Northwest
Leesburg: Mondays
o
Northeast
Leesburg, inside the bypass: Tuesdays
o
Northeast
Leesburg, outside the bypass: Wednesdays
o
Southwest
Leesburg, plus Meadowbrook: Thursdays
o
Southeast
Leesburg, except Meadowbrook: Fridays
o
Townwide on
Mondays
- Bulk Items (by request only)
o
Townwide on Wednesdays
In order to accommodate this
schedule, there are some changes to the collections areas. See the collection
area map below. The biggest change is that Northeast Leesburg has been divided
into two collection areas, one inside the bypass and one outside the bypass. In
addition, the Meadowbrook Farm neighborhood has been added to the Southwest
collection area. Residents who are unsure of their collection area can look up
their street name on the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/trash or call 703-771-2790.
 Later this summer, each residence
will receive a black trash toter and a blue recycling toter, with wheels and attached
lids. Single family homes will receive 96 gallon toters and townhomes will
receive 64 gallon toters. At the present time, Town officials expect toters to
be delivered beginning in late July with deliveries completed to all residences
by the end of August. Until toters are issued, residents should continue to use
their current trash cans and recycling bins.
Collection schedules for
commercial curbside customers are not changing. Commercial curbside customers
will continue to receive trash collection six days a week, Monday through
Saturday, and recycling collection on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
More information about the new
services will be posted to the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/trash and sent to all residences receiving
curbside trash and recycling collection in the mail.
