Virginia Medicaid Open Enrollment Until August 31
Have your health needs changed this year? Open Enrollment is your opportunity to review your health coverage and make changes to fit your needs. In the Northern Virginia region, Cardinal Care (Medicaid) Open Enrollment runs until August 31. Medicaid members should have received a letter from Cardinal Care with their enrollment details. Parenting can be tough! It’s okay to ask for help.
We offer a Parent Support Line where you can talk with trained parenting specialists for guidance on a wide range of topics including child development, reducing your stress, strengthening the parent-child bond, and accessing community resources. Parents, caregivers, or anyone who works with children can call 703-324-7720, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with questions or concerns. Language support is available.

10 Tips to Stay Safe on Campus
Campus violence is a legitimate worry for the roughly 72 million students enrolled in colleges and universities in this country. That violence includes sexual violence. Studies show if you’re a college student or college-age adult, you’re at particularly high risk of being sexually assaulted, likely by someone you know. Learn more about campus safety.

Plan Ahead So Your Wishes Are Known
If you became incapacitated and couldn’t speak for yourself, would your family know what medical care you want? It can be uncomfortable to think about, but planning now is the best way to make sure your wishes are followed. Body Safety Facilitators Needed
Empower children, make a difference in your community, and help prevent child abuse in a non-alarming way by volunteering with the Body Safety Education Program. We need volunteers to teach our evidence-based, age-appropriate lessons in Fairfax County schools, and we offer flexible scheduling, thorough training, ongoing support, and your choice of classes. Wednesday, Aug. 19 – What it Means to be Brain Healthy
In this webinar, hosted by the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging, Dr. Jennifer Pauldurai, Cognitive and Behavioral Neurologist Medical Director with the Inova Brain Health and Memory Disorders Program will discuss brain health. As we age, we are all at risk of dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases, but this isn't an inevitable fate. There are proactive changes we can make to our health and lifestyle to keep our brains working well for longer. Session is free and will take place virtually from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. Register now.
Thursday, Aug. 27 – Body Safety Program Facilitator Training
