Extreme Heat Resources
Residents are encouraged to stay safe during the extreme heat this weekend, especially during outdoor activities. Safety tips are available online and the county has activated its heat plan through Saturday, along with a 24-hour cooling center though Sunday morning.

Stay cool this weekend and visit the The Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston and Our Special Harbor at Franconia Park for slides, flumes, sprays, showers, floatables and more.

Sully Historic Site Tour
Friday - Sunday, Hours Vary
Learn about the history and importance of the Sully Historic Site in Chantilly. Explore the lives of the people who lived and worked at this site from the 1700s to the 1950s. This guided tour covers the housing of enslaved people, the 1794 Sully house, the kitchen, the laundry and other historic structures.

Family Friendly 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run (9 a.m.)
Enjoy a family friendly racecourse on grass, trails and roads at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston. Registration is $5 per runner for the 1-mile race and $8 per runner for the 5K race. There will be prizes for top three male and female finishers.

Discover Fairfax with the 250th Discovery Map (All day)
The Discovery Map is a free, self-guided adventure that invites you to explore our parks, historic sites, nature centers and recreation facilities as part of the Fairfax250 celebration.
Historic Huntley House Tours (10:30 a.m. and noon)
Explore the vistas, voices and stories of Historic Huntley in Alexandria. The tour includes the unfurnished late Federal-style 1825 villa, farm outbuildings, stories from the Huntley community and a view of Hybla Valley. Registration is $10 for adults and $8 for children.

Explore the 200-year-old Colvin Run Mill in Great Falls as we grind grain using the power of the waterwheel. Hear and smell the grindstones at work. Learn how automated gristmills revolutionized flour production. Visit the 19th century miller's house and stop by the general store to purchase our ground grain. Registration is $14.
