Join a naturalist to meet live snakes and learn why they're important at Burke Lake Park. Registration is $9.
Spring Discovery Hike (10 - 11:30 a.m.)
Take a guided nature hike along one of the many trails at Riverbend Park in Great Falls. Find spring ephemeral flowers along the forest trails, observe tadpoles and turtles in Carper's pond or catch a glimpse of bald eagles along the Potomac Heritage Trail. Registration is $12.
Salamanders Undercover (10 a.m. - noon)
Get to know our local amphibians at Riverbend Park in Great Falls. Join a naturalist as we roll logs and dip nets to look for terrestrial salamanders, aquatic newts, tadpoles and some of the many plants and critters they live with. Registration is $16.
Hannah P. Clark/Enyedi House Open House (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.)
Join us for an open house in celebration of Historic Preservation Month at the historic Hannah P. Clark/Enyedi House in Lorton. Take a tour and hear from resident curators about the home’s history and the rehabilitation and preservation work they've completed.
Spanish Conversation Group (10:15 - 11:15 a.m.)
Practice your Spanish language conversation skills with a native speaker at Kings Park Library in Burke. Basic knowledge of Spanish is required.
Historic Huntley House Tour (10:30 a.m. and noon)
Explore the vistas, voices and stories of Historic Huntley in Alexandria. The tour includes the unfurnished late Federal-style 1825 villa, farm outbuildings, stories from the Huntley community and a view of Hybla Valley. Registration is $8.
Grow your Superpower: Family Resource Fair (11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.)
Join us at Centreville Regional Library for an event filled with hands-on activities, preschool and kindergarten sign-up information, a free meal, free books, community information, a storytime and a visit from firefighters.
Ice Cream at Historic Huntley (2 - 3 p.m.)
Make and enjoy hand-cranked ice cream at Historic Huntley in Alexandria. Discover how the histories of ice cream and Huntley follow a similar path from elite luxury to family fare. Ice well and Historic Huntley House tour included. Registration is $10.
Anh's New Word and a Cultural Day with Author Hanh Bui (2 - 4 p.m.)
Join us at Thomas Jefferson Library in Falls Church for a conversation with author and educator Hanh Bui and students from George Mason University's Vietnamese Student Association for a fan dance performance. Bui will discuss her book, "Anh's New Word," which is inspired by Bui’s own refugee experience.
Creating Oils, Tinctures and Vinegars (4 - 5:30 p.m.)
In this program, we'll cover the basics of using plants to make oils, tinctures and vinegars at Colvin Run Mill in Great Falls. Learn how plants have been used in traditional medicines for healing and strengthening the immune system. Registration is $25.
Movie at the Mill - 'Sense and Sensibility' (8:30 - 10:30 p.m.)
Watch an outdoor screening of the 1995 film "Sense of Sensibility" at Colvin Run Mill in Great Falls. Bring your own blanket or low lawn chair. The Miller's House Exhibit will be open for self-guided tours at 7:30 p.m. and will close at the start of the film. Registration is $12.
