The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) is accepting waitlist applications for Project-Based Voucher (PBV) units through Sunday, February 8, 2026.
How to Apply: Starting Monday, February 2, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., interested individuals can apply on the Fairfax County Housing and Community Development website. Applications will be accepted until Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Application instructions are available in English, Spanish and Korean.
Individuals who need assistance can call the Waitlist Hotline at 703-449-9050 or visit the FCRHA office (3700 Pender Dr., Fairfax) during normal business hours, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
How Waitlist Applications Work: Applications will be selected at random and placed on the waitlist. Once a unit becomes available, the waitlist applicants will be contacted, screened, and determined eligible based on income level, household size, and the size of the rental unit.
About the Project-Based Voucher Program: The Project-Based Voucher program is a subsidized rental housing program where households pay a portion of the rent up to 35% of the adjusted gross household income while the county pays the remaining portion of the rent. PBV Program participants are ineligible to receive other federal housing assistance subsidies.
Fairfax County Offers Numerous Affordable Housing Programs: FCRHA offers many affordable housing programs, and not all require waitlist applications – in fact, people can apply directly to some properties. Different affordable housing programs have different applications. Learn more on the website: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/housing/rentalhousing.
