 Throughout 2026, Fairfax County Public Library and its branches will be hosting a year-long celebration in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States. In alignment with national, state and local initiatives, this commemorative year will feature monthly themes, special events and engaging activities that explore our nation’s past, present and future.

 During our Winter Reading Adventure, participants are invited to read for the gold and tap into their inner artist by creating a tiny art piece to be displayed on our library website! Staring January 12, kits will be available at select FCPL branches.

Throughout the months of January and February, FCPL is collecting donations of food for local organizations to distribute to those in need. Community members can drop off unexpired, commercially produced food items to any FCPL branch during regular hours.

Each month FCPL offers a hand-picked selection featured for unlimited use. During that month, the selection will be always available with no holds, no waiting. The featured eBooks can be used for reading with friends, as virtual book club picks or just because you like to read what we suggest!

From Sept. 1-30, 2025, in honor of our new logo, FCPL accepted submissions for new library card designs. We received over 150 entries, and a committee of Library and Fairfax Library Foundation staff chose four winning designs from a selection of talented finalists.
