Holiday Fun with an Impact Through Cathy Hudgins CC

Cathy Hudgins Community Center at Southgate hosted its annual Elf Store in early December. Families visited Santa and participated in crafts and activities, and young shoppers were able to select gifts (free of charge) for family members.   

Marjorie Burris Talks ADHC Mission on County Podcast

Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) Program Manager Dr. Marjorie Burris, DNP appeared on the County Conversation Podcast in December. She talked about ADHC, and how the four centers help families have peace of mind knowing their loved one with a cognitive impairment is in a safe, supervised environment during the day.  Learn more and stream the podcast

Fairfax County Hypothermia Prevention Program Now Open 

Fairfax County's Hypothermia Prevention Program runs Dec. 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. The county has shelters in several locations to help vulnerable residents and ensure no one must sleep outside in winter months. Please share with your constituents. Learn more

Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services' Discover Your Path Expo will offer career resources for youth and young adults on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 (11 a.m. - 3 p.m.) at Thomas Edison High School, 5801 Franconia Rd., Alexandria. Free. Register in advance! Learn more

Cathy Hudgins Community Center Reopens January 31

We are pleased to announce Cathy Hudgins Community Center at Southgate will reopen on Jan. 31, 2026, following a four-month renovation period for new HVAC and flooring. Thank you to our community partners who hosted Cathy Hudgins' programming during the renovation. Learn more

Reminder: NCS Facilities Holiday Closures 

Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services facilities will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, 2025, in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Normal operations will resume on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.

Additionally, Community and Teen Centers will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025 (New Year's Eve), and all facilities will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, in observance of News Year's Day.

Please check with individual programs for any class or program cancellations.
