2025 HUD CoC Program Competition is Open
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the FY2025 HUD Continuum of Care (CoC) Program Competition on November 13, 2025. Detailed information regarding this national competition can be found here.
The "2025 New Project Application" and "2025 New Project Application, Agency Capacity Form" (only required for agencies that do not currently receive HUD CoC Program funding) can be found on the Fairfax County Continuum of Care Webpage. This webpage will be updated through the competition process with information, application instructions and forms, and deadlines.
Fairfax County’s CoC encourages applications from all eligible applicants regardless of whether the entity is currently receiving HUD funding or has ever received CoC funding. Technical assistance will be provided to ensure this funding opportunity is accessible.
Applications for NEW funding opportunities are due via email to Stephen Knippler, CoC Manager, at stephen.knippler@fairfaxcounty.gov by 4:00 p.m. on December 12, 2025.
NCS Request for Proposals
The Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) FY2027-2028 Funding Application Package was released on November 21, 2025, and proposals are due on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Details are available in Fairfax County's Bonfire/Euna Procurement Portal, A pre-proposal conference will be held virtually (MS Teams) on December 8, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. to review the Request for Proposals and answer questions. to register for the pre-proposal conference.
Offerors may submit any questions pertaining to the RFP, in writing, prior to the pre-proposal conference to . While attendance at this conference is not a prerequisite to submitting a proposal, offerors who intend to submit a proposal are encouraged to attend. Any changes resulting from this conference will be issued in a written addendum to the solicitation. "Talk. They Hear You."
Small, ongoing conversations can do a lot to prevent underage drinking and other drug use. Starting these conversations early, by age 9, are important, as research shows that children begin to look at alcohol more positively between ages 9 and 13. The "Talk. They Hear You." presentation is for parents and caregivers of children, teens and young adults, to provide practical tips on how start and continue having conversations about underage drinking and substance use.
Join them for a one-hour presentation on Wednesday, December 10 at 6 p.m. to learn the five conversation goals to talk with kids about alcohol and other drugs. You can register here.
2026 Shark Tank Applications Now Available
2026 Shark Tank Technology Challenge Applications Now Available NCS is now accepting entries in the Fairfax Area High School Student Shark Tank Technology Challenge. Initial proposals are due Dec. 19, 2025. Open to all students in Fairfax County, Fairfax City and the City of Falls Church, the 2025-26 challenge invites youth to develop an innovative device or app that will have a positive impact in the lives of older adults, adults with disabilities, caregivers or wounded warriors. A winning project should enhance independence and life enjoyment for the target audience, foster social connection and help reduce isolation, and be truly innovative – either by introducing something new to the marketplace or significantly improving an existing product. Fairfax County Student Bus Program
Did you know that you can now sign-up for a Free Student Bus Pass SmarTrip card at all Fairfax County high schools and middle schools and ride the Fairfax Connector and City of Fairfax CUE bus for free? Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Seeking Science and Engineering Fair Judges
Do You have a science background and/or advanced degree? FCPS Seeks Judges for The Fairfax County Regional Science and Engineering Fair which will be held Saturday, March 14 at Robinson Secondary School. Each year, more than 250 judges are required to evaluate science fair projects in a wide variety of categories ranging from plant science to engineering technology. Volunteers serving as judges should hold an advanced degree or possess extensive academic and/or professional experience in their selected judging category. However, all interested individuals are encouraged to apply. Parents and caregivers, teachers, and family friends are not permitted to judge in categories in which their child, student, or family friend’s child is competing.

Domestic and Sexual Violence Service (DSVS) In Need of Volunteers
DSVS volunteers support their direct-service and crisis response programs, hospital accompaniment, community engagement efforts, and more. They are especially in need of volunteers who are bilingual in English and Spanish. The first step to volunteering with DSVS is attending a virtual volunteer orientation.
