Watch and listen to performances this weekend as part of our Summer Entertainment Series. Shows include China Cultural Heritage Night, Groovy Nate and Izis de La Enfermera de la Salsa. Bring a picnic dinner, chairs or blanket and enjoy the music.

Farmers Markets
Friday - Sunday, Hours Vary
Shop for a variety of fresh produce, flowers, locally made goods and more at our farmers markets this weekend. All markets accept food scraps for composting. SNAP is accepted at select markets.

Game Night After Hours (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.)
After Kings Park Library in Burke closes, we're opening the doors for a night of mischief and matches. Join us for a competitive game of hide-and-seek, a real-life rendition of "Among Us" and an exciting scavenger hunt. Enjoy a collection of classic board games, snacks and drinks.

French Conversation Group (noon - 2 p.m.)
Practice your French language conversation skills with a fluent French speaker at Kings Park Library in Burke. Basic knowledge of French is required.
Memoir Writing With Shabnam Curtis (2 - 3:30 p.m.)
Learn how to transform your memories into compelling narratives at this virtual event. Through thought-provoking prompts and engaging exercises, you'll learn the art of storytelling while reflecting on moments that shaped you.
Read to the Dog (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.)
Read a story to Eloise, a trained therapy dog, at Burke Centre Library. Bring your own book or choose one from the library. Drop in for a session on a first come, first serve basis.
Kayak Tour - Wildlife of the Potomac (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.)
Watch for deer foraging and osprey and bald eagles searching for fish as we paddle through this wildlife-rich section of the Potomac River at Riverbend Park in Great Falls. No previous experience is required. Registration is $43.
Campfire Fridays (8 - 9 p.m.)
Join us for an evening campfire for the whole family at Lake Accotink Park in Springfield. Explore the wonders of our natural world through walks, interactive activities and animal presentations. End the evening with s'mores. Registration is $10.

Campfire Saturdays (8 - 9:30 p.m.)
Learn about constellations and use a telescope to identify stars. The program concludes with s'mores by the campfire. Registration is $12.

Backyard Composting - Principles and Best Practice (10:30 a.m. - noon)
Learn how to transform your scraps, yard debris and other organic materials into nutrient-rich soil for your garden at Green Spring Gardens Park in Alexandria. We’ll discuss the basic principles behind the science of composting, why compost benefits the soil and different compost bins and tools. Registration is $19.
Fig Talk (2 - 3:30 p.m.)
Learn about this small, unusual fruit at the City of Fairfax Regional Library. A comprehensive talk will cover history, botany, biology and information specific to the cultivars of our region.
Game Night and Mahjong (3 - 5:30 p.m.)
Learn how to play Mahjong with your friends and family at Kingstowne Library. We'll also have other board games for you to play. All ages are welcome.
Indigenous Drum Circle (4 - 5 p.m.)
Join an indigenous drum circle at Great Falls Library. The drum, often seen as the heartbeat of the Earth, reaches ancestors and their stories, often used in ceremonies, celebrations and healing rituals.
Console Gaming (4:30 - 5:30 p.m.)
Calling all gamers! Come to the George Mason Regional Library in Annandale and play a variety of video games with other teens.
Twilight Boardwalk Stroll (7:15 - 9:15 p.m.)
Take a guided walk along forested paths and experience Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria as it transitions from day into night. Watch and listen for nocturnal residents such as beavers and owls. Registration is $10.

Bat Night (7:45 - 9:15 p.m.)
Discover the facts, fiction and folklore about nature’s only flying mammal at Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria. After a presentation, take a night walk and use a special acoustic device to listen for and identify bat calls not heard with the human ear. Registration is $9.

Kids Back to School Sale (10 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
Send your kiddo off to school with a smile and a new book. Come to the Reston Regional Library to shop from thousands of gently-used books at our annual back-to-school sale.
Lake Life (10:30 - 11:30 a.m.)
Explore Burke Lake Park and learn more about the creatures who call the lake home including reptiles, amphibians and macroinvertebrates. Registration is $8.
Mill in Motion (noon - 2 p.m.)
Visit Colvin Run Mill in Great Falls to see how it operated in 1811. Learn about Oliver Evans and his U.S. patents that revolutionized food production. Visit the 19th century Miller's house and stop by the general store to purchase ground grain. Registration is $12.
Spellbinders - Tales of Tails (1 - 1:45 p.m.)
Hear stories from countries around the world at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale. Attendees are welcome to share a five-minute story. From trickster tales to timeless fables, oral storytelling preserves traditions and fosters connections.

Go on a walk at Green Spring Gardens Park in Alexandria to spot hummingbirds and learn which flowers to plant to attract them. Enjoy making a hummingbird craft. Registration is $10. Learn more.
