Mount Vernon District Summer Palooza (11 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
Join us for the first annual Summer Palooza at the Mount Vernon Governmental Center. This family-friendly event will include live music, free food, a petting zoo, a kids zone, touch-a-truck fun and beer garden.

Adapted Kayaking (8 - 10 a.m.)
Participate in a beginners kayaking class at Riverbend Park and learn flat and moving-water kayaking basics while increasing fitness. This adapted class offers additional staff supervision with one staff member for every three students. Registration is $151.
Summer Storytime - Rainbow Vegetables (10 - 11 a.m.)
It's garden season! Listen to a story, sing songs, try some veggies and paint with potatoes at Green Spring Gardens Park in Alexandria. Registration is $10.
Are You Going to Eat That? (10 - 11 a.m.)
Identify plants that are safe to eat at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park in Chantilly. Learn how plants are used for rope making and folk remedies. Registration is $8.
Forest Bathing Walk in the Gardens (10 a.m. - noon)
Enjoy a slow, meditative walk around Green Springs Garden Park in Alexandria. Forest bathing helps reduce blood pressure, boost immunity and enhance mood and creativity. Registration is $35.
Scavenger Hunt Adventure at the Lake (11 a.m. - noon)
Go on a scavenger hunt adventure at Burke Lake Park to find objects around the lake and collect a small prize. Registration is $8.
Read to the Dog (11 a.m. - noon)
Read to an adorable pup at the Sherwood Regional Library in Alexandria. This program is for children ages 6 to 11.
Spellbinders - Tales of Tails (1 - 1:45 p.m.)
Join us at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale and hear stories from around the world. Attendees are welcome to share their own five-minute story. From trickster tales to fables, oral stories share traditions and connect communities.
Time Travel Club at Herndon Library (1 - 2 p.m.)
Travel back in time at the Herndon Fortnightly Library. Learn about ancient civilizations through a short lesson and trivia, and explore with hands-on activities and crafts.
Pond Fest Class (6 - 8 p.m.)
Bring the whole family to explore the Pohick Stream Valley at the Hidden Pond Nature Center in Annandale. Enjoy a twilight pond and stream study, a swamp walk and campfire. Registration is $12.
Goodnight Walk – Frogs (7 - 8 p.m.)
Look for frogs and meet different frog species at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale. Make a craft and enjoy a night hike with a naturalist. Registration is $8.
