At the beginning of the year, Diane Charles, (Fairfax Food Council Project Manager) and Susan Sanow (Partnership for a Healthier Fairfax Project Manager) retired from the Health Department. They served in a job share position, with each person working 20 hours per week. Given the evolution of their work and responsibilities, rather than continue with a job share position, we’ve created a single full-time position. This position, Partnership Program Coordinator, will advance the work of the Partnership for Healthier Fairfax (PFHF) community coalition, its associated Fairfax Food Council (FFC) and various other committees in its mission to improve community health and promote health equity.
The application process for this position will be opening in early March. We encourage you to share this information through your networks!

The Route 1 Community Farm is making farmland and fresh food more accessible to residents in the Route 1 Corridor who lack space and resources for their own gardens. The 2 acre Community Farm is near the intersection of Route 1 and Mt. Vernon Memorial Highway. Together we’re building food sovereignty through the farm’s educational events, technical assistance, and other resources. Participating Community Growers enjoy FREE access to growing space and farm programs. Our season starts in early April.
Residents who live in zip codes 22306, 22309, 22060 and 22079 are given first priority. Applicants who are part of Fort Belvoir’s military community - including military service members, veterans and their families or caregivers - are also welcome.
