A Note from Andres
Good evening!
I'm excited to write to you on this beautiful Spring evening. Below you'll find lots of updates and events in Mason District. I'd like to highlight one event in particular: Next Thursday we'll host our Proposed Budget Town Hall. This is a HYBRID event that will be held in-person at the Mason District Government Center and streamed on Facebook Live. I hope you'll consider joining us and making your voice heard.
If you follow us on social media (which I hope you do!), you likely caught my op-ed in Patch about pedestrian safety. This is a priority for my office, my colleagues on the Board, and Fairfax County staff. In addition to that article, you'll find some helpful resources below in the Public Safety Corner.
If you're not already following us on social media, please consider doing so. You can find us on LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
I hope you enjoy this edition of Mason Matters, and as always, please don't hesitate to contact me directly if I can ever be of assistance. I look forward to working with you!
My best,
|

Annandale High School's Just World Festival
It's easy to get distracted by the issues that divide us. Whether it's politics or community issues, we're inundated by messages in the media about what makes us different from one another. But part of my job as a Supervisor is shaping some of the conversations about issues and how we approach them. In that capacity, I get to see firsthand how our strength lies in community. That's what I got to discuss recently at Annandale High School's Just World Festival, an annual event focused on community engagement. This year's theme was "Solidarity in Community," and I was thrilled to chat with students as their keynote speaker.

Ride-Along with Fairfax County Fire & Rescue
Last week I got to spend some time with Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Lt. J. Bailey for a ride-along with one of our advanced medical units. These are always eye-opening for me and reinforce my commitment to ensuring our first responders have the resources they need. Thank you, Lt. Bailey, for the ride, and for all that you and your colleagues do to keep our community safe!

Glen Forest Community Association's annual meeting
One of my roles as Mason District Supervisor is ensuring our communities are heard and given a seat at the table. It's a priority for my team and I to show up for our residents, which led me to the Glen Forest Community Association's annual meeting last weekend. In addition to sharing county resources and constituent concerns, we got to hear about all the great work they're doing for their neighbors. Thank you for hosting me and for all that you do for our community!
