Hear journalist Rachel Louise Snyder discuss her award-winning book No Visible Bruises. She details how the scale of domestic violence in our country is obscured by commonly-held myths. Experts from the Shelter House and the Department of Family Services will discuss available resources for those experiencing domestic violence.

16th Annual K9 Krawl 5K (9-11 a.m.)
Bring your canines as we walk to bring awareness to the link between domestic violence and animal cruelty at the Fairfax County Public Safety Headquarters.
Autumn Leaf Hike and Craft (10-11 a.m.)
Hike through the fall foliage and identify trees at Burke Lake Park. Find that perfect autumn leaf and make a craft keepsake. Registration is for a family of up to four people.
Grand Opening of the Eileen Garnett Civic Space (10 a.m.-1 p.m.)
Join us in celebrating the opening of a new civic space in the heart of downtown Annandale. There be a ribbon cutting ceremony and family-friendly activities such as a pop-up pumpkin patch and face painting, fitness classes, food and more.
Bike Safety Rodeo (10:30-11:30 a.m.)
Bring your bikes and helmets for our second bike safety rodeo at the Oakton Library. Kids ages 4-6 can learn how to ride safely with this interactive skills course.
Haunted Handprints (2-3:30 p.m.)
Turn your handprint into a happy haunted house at the Patrick Henry Library. This activity is for children 5 years old and up.
Fall Tea Party (2-3:30 p.m.)
Bring your child to the Colvin Run Mill and celebrate Fall. We’ll have tea, savory and sweet treats and play 19th century games. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Many animals have unusual physical and behavioral adaptations that help them to get a meal or keep from being a meal. Compare and contrast the adaptations of deer, owls, squirrels and turtles at Lake Fairfax.
Sully Historic Site Tours (11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.)
Enjoy a 45-minute tour of the Sully Historic Site, built for Richard Bland Lee in 1794, Northern Virginia’s first Congressman. The story includes his family, political career and the life of the enslaved community that supported Sully.
