Updates to the House Grading Plan Package
The application package for House Grading Plans, for the construction of single-family houses, has been updated to reflect changes to state and City regulations, summarized below, and to better reflect current processes.
- The Commonwealth of Virginia’s regulations and new Stormwater Handbook became effective July 1, 2024, consolidating stormwater and erosion & sediment control, as well as some aspects of the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Program, including:
- New water quality review standards
- Two new BMPs can be used to meet water quality requirements
- New Construction General Permit
- City of Fairfax updated its ordinances due to the revisions in the state code, including:
- Revised references to state water quality and quantity requirements, and design standards.
- Incorporated numerous new and revised definitions from state code
- All references to the city’s Virginia Stormwater Management Program (VSMP) have been revised to VESMP (Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Program).
- Climate Change and sea level rise assessment required for any disturbance or development within the RPA
