The Harbor String Quartet was founded in 1997 by members of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. The group consists of classically trained musicians who perform with the Virginia Symphony, Virginia Opera, Virginia Musical Theater and Broadway on Tour. Each member has had extensive quartet experience over the years as part of HSQ.
Their diverse repertoire listing incudes music genres such as classical, jazz standards, Latin, Broadway songs and contemporary pop hits. Members have performed with such groups as Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Johnny Mathis, Idina Menzel, Disturbed, Josh Groban and Mannheim Steamroller.
This project was supported, in part, by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, which receives support from the Virginia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
