Commission on the Arts Grant Application Deadline is Sept. 13

The City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts provides grants to organizations in the city with projects that provide any or all of the following:
- Educational programs that increase understanding and appreciation of the arts.
- Access to high-quality art for the residents of Fairfax.
- Opportunities for artists to develop skills and demonstrate their abilities.
- Support for emerging art organizations and activities.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. Apply online.
The Commission on the Arts grant program is funded through a grant from City of Fairfax and the Virginia Commission for the Arts Creative Communities Partnership Grant.

- Convene a closed meeting to conduct interviews for Boards and Commissions and discuss appointments to Boards and Commissions.
- Update on the Willard-Sherwood Health and Community Center project.
- Discussion on granting a license agreement with Breckinridge Lane Homeowner Association for streetlights.
- Discussion on a resolution to reappropriate general/operating, capital, and enterprise funds that were appropriated in FY 2024 and have not yet been spent or committed as of June 30, 2024.

Fairfax City Earns Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 31st Consecutive Year
Fairfax City's annual budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024, (FY 2025) qualified for the Government Finance Officers Association's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. It represents a significant achievement, reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff, and is in keeping with the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
This award marks the 31st consecutive year that the city has earned the honor. The city also received special recognition for the capital portion of the annual budget.

Take the Commission for Women Community Survey
The City of Fairfax Commission for Women invites you to participate in a survey to collect feedback on the needs of women and children in the city.
The success of the CFW's work requires a broader understanding of what issues are most important to female city residents. Your time is valuable, and your input is appreciated. Please respond to the survey by Monday, Sept. 9.
The information gathered from this survey will inform the CFW as they develop their 2025-27 areas of focus. Survey questions include housing, health care, education, safety, and more.
