Welcome Back, Mason Nation!
It’s time to welcome back Mason Nation! Move-in day for The Flats on University is this Saturday, August 17. Democracy Lane will be one-way from University Drive to the parking lot east of The Flats. Though move-in times are staggered, expect increased traffic from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the surrounding area.
Additionally, Mason students will move into housing on the Fairfax campus Aug. 18-25. Classes begin Aug. 26 at Northern Virginia Community College and George Mason University.

Slow Down for Students
On Aug. 19, students return to Fairfax County Public Schools. Here are some important safety tips to remember:
- Stop for school buses where students are loading or unloading.
- Watch out for school crossing guards and obey their signals.
- Look out for students throughout the community, but especially on crosswalks and near schools.
- Avoid distractions such as food and phones.

Speed Cameras in Use During School Year
The city has speed enforcement cameras in school zones during certain hours of the school day. The cameras are in school zones on Blenheim Boulevard, Route 236/Main Street, and Jermantown Road, near the city's four schools and two Fairfax County schools (Woodson High School and Frost Middle School).

Second Phase of Old Town Lighting Project Continues Aug. 19
Installation of new LED streetlights in Historic Old Town Fairfax is slated to start Aug. 19 and may take 12 weeks to complete.
