Fairfax Circle Small Area Plan Launching
We are excited to announce the beginning of a Small Area Plan for the Fairfax Circle area in the City of Fairfax!
As you may recall, the City of Fairfax 2035 Comprehensive Plan recommends small area plans be developed for each of five activity centers: Old Town, Northfax, Kamp Washington, Fairfax Circle, and Pickett & Main. Small Area Plans provide specific guidance for the desired mix of uses, residential density, building density, design aesthetic, street locations, multimodal connections, infrastructure improvements, parking, and open space. In 2020, plans were completed and adopted for Old Town Fairfax and Northfax. The Kamp Washington plan was completed and adopted last October. Those plans and supporting reports can be found on the City’s Small Area Plans page. These reports are the culmination of months of research, analysis and meetings with stakeholders, property owners, City representatives, and the general public. As the recommendations of those plans begin moving forward, we are now turning to Fairfax Circle as the next activity center where a unified vision is needed to help guide private investment and public priorities for the next 15 years.
We expect the Fairfax Circle plan to take over a year to complete and will be asking for input every step of the way. In order to strengthen this effort, we will be utilizing the “Engage” feature on the City’s web site. The Fairfax Circle Engage page can be found here. We encourage you to subscribe for updates and register so you can use all of the engagement tools on the page. After the first public meeting, we will only be sending updates to those subscribed to the Fairfax Circle updates so be sure to subscribe even if you are also subscribed to other groups.
The first public meeting will be held at Fairfax High School on Thursday, June 15, at 7pm.
Lastly, we would like to thank everyone who helped shape the plans for Old Town, Northfax and Kamp Washington and hope you will continue to share your thoughts for Fairfax Circle. We look forward to working with you on this exciting area of the City!
