The City of Fairfax has established a homelessness task force to address the impact of homelessness within the city.
Led by Mayor Catherine Read, Councilmember Kate Doyle Feingold, and Councilmember So Lim, the task force will be comprised of city residents, representatives from city businesses, and representatives from human service organizations connected to the Partnership to Prevent and End Homelessness service continuum, including the Lamb Center, FACETS, and the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board.
The task force will meet publicly at least once per quarter. Applications to the task force will be accepted through 5 p.m. March 31.

Attend an Open House for the First and Second Street Sidewalk Study, March 22
The city is evaluating the feasibility of sidewalks on First and Second streets between Oak Street and Hallman Street.
Attend an open house for the city's First Street and Second Street Sidewalk Feasibility Study at 7 p.m. March 22 at Fairfax Baptist Church. Add event to your calendar.
This project is in the study phase. Once the study is complete, the Transportation Division will present recommendations to the community and City Council for approval.

Help Shape the City's Title VI Program (15-min survey)
The city is establishing a Title VI Program to formalize this commitment and to recognize its responsibility to provide fairness and equity in all its programs, services, and activities.
A survey is available on Engage Fairfax to capture individual insights. The gathered feedback will ensure the final program is rooted in the specific needs of city residents.
Title VI and its related authorities provide that no person shall on the ground of race, color, national origin, sex, or disabilities be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal funds.

Volunteer to Assist with Tax Relief Applications
The Fairfax City Finance Department seeks volunteers — especially seniors and George Mason University students – to assist citizens who are applying for real estate tax relief.
Volunteers would assist applicants during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays) at City Hall, 10455 Armstrong St. Hours are flexible and would accommodate the volunteer’s availability. Tasks are administrative and customer service-oriented.
All adult city residents are invited to apply, including those with multilingual capabilities.
