Plastic Yard Waste Bag Ban Starts March 1
Beginning March 1, Fairfax City residents who receive curbside refuse collection will no longer be able to use plastic bags for yard waste. Yard waste set out in plastic bags will be identified with a red tag to notify the occupant of the violation, and the material will be left on the curb.

Kamp Washington Small Area Plan Meeting, Feb. 24
On Feb. 24, City staff and consultants will present updates to the Kamp Washington Small Area Plan at 7 p.m. in the Katherine Johnson Middle School auditorium. A virtual option is available. Register to attend virtually.

Public Hearing for Wastewater Rates Slated for Feb. 22
A public hearing on an ordinance to amend the wastewater rates, by adding a new Winter Quarter limit to the rate structure for residential consumer customers, is slated for Feb 22.

Stafford Drive Stream Restoration
The north fork of Accotink Creek between Plantation Parkway and Ranger Road Park, known locally as the Stafford Drive stream, is in bad shape.
This project will restore nearly a half mile of the Stafford Drive stream using Natural Channel Design principles to stabilize the stream to prevent further erosion and reconnect the stream to the floodplain.

Library Staff Excellence Awards
Fairfax County Public Library staff have done it all during the pandemic, providing direct public service in branches, supporting community health efforts, pivoting to virtual services, and much more. Show them some love by nominating individual employees for a Staff Excellence award.
