The 2026-27 school year is off to an exciting start throughout PWCS! From big smiles at bus stops and first-day photos to reconnecting with friends and meeting new teachers, students, and staff, the week was one to remember.

Attendance Awareness Month Begins Tomorrow 🗓️
PWCS proudly recognizes Attendance Awareness Month in September. Regular attendance helps students stay connected to learning and to their school community. Families can help by planning ahead and understanding attendance expectations.
Check Your Student’s Attendance
Families can use ParentVUE to review attendance throughout the school year. Checking regularly helps you stay informed and address concerns early.
Know When Students Have School Days Off
Planning ahead can help protect valuable learning time. When possible, consider scheduling appointments, trips, and other activities for days when students are already off from school. Please view the 2026-27 school calendar to plan ahead.
Know the Difference Between Excused and Unexcused Absences
Sometimes students need to miss school. Understanding what makes an absence excused or unexcused can help families know what to do when an absence occurs. For additional information, visit PWCS attendance guidelines.

The Family Engagement Series provides families with resources that will assist with their student’s success. We hope you can join us in the upcoming sessions:

Student Vision Profile ⭐️
Students and families in grades 6–12 can access the Student Vision Profile through ParentVUE and StudentVUE in one of the eight correspondence languages.
This profile offers insights on life after high school and optimizing their PWCS experience based on self-discovery assessments. If an assessment wasn't completed, students can do so anytime by logging in to Naviance. The profile includes:
- Details on personal traits and career interests.
- Career plan pathway information (default is Health Sciences if no assessment was done).
- Suggested action steps for post-high school paths (college, career, military, work).

🏡 Build Strong Learning Habits at Home
Explore the recommendations below to support continued learning beyond the school day.

Create a consistent study routine with regular study habits.

Establish a daily schedule that includes a dedicated time and quiet location for studying.

Design a distraction-free zone where students can concentrate without interruptions.

Encourage goal setting by helping students identify achievable short-term and long-term academic objectives to keep students motivated.
