💪 ⏳ Tips for helping students finish the school year strong...
-
Attend school daily – Ensure students attend school every day. One of the best ways to stay on the path of on-time graduation is to be on time for school each day, ready to learn. Knowledge is power, attend every hour!
-
Set goals – Work with your students to clearly define achievable academic goals for the remainder of the school year. This will help them stay focused and motivated while working toward an objective.
-
Limit distractions – Make sure there is a comfortable and quiet place for your students to study and complete assignments. Ensure this environment limits disruptions such as televisions, cell phones, and loud music that may hinder concentration.
-
Seek assistance – Remind students to ask for help; there are people at school and home including teachers, counselors, and family members who can provide assistance.
-
Practice self-care – Ensure students are getting enough sleep, eat well, and take breaks. A healthy body and mind are crucial for academic success. Consider taking advantage of Hazel Health's free mental health telehealth service available to PWCS students if counseling support from a professional therapist could help.

Contest winner crafts a compelling slogan championing the advantages of a cell phone-free education 📱
Congrats to Rutvi Devani, a junior at Patriot High School and The Governor's School @ Innovation Park! Rutvi was surprised as the winner of the cell phone policy slogan contest with her slogan, "Stop the Scroll, Take Control," which will be displayed in all middle and high schools in PWCS.
The slogan contest supports the new bell-to-bell cell phone policy, which takes effect for the 2025-26 school year, to boost student focus and engagement by limiting cell phone usage during school hours.

Battle of the Brains: Students face off in academic competition 🧠
Students from PWCS competed in the annual Battle of the Brains earlier this month. This high-energy quiz show challenged middle schoolers with questions in history, math, science, and language arts, to prepare for the Standards of Learning (SOL) exams.
The competition, which included months of preparation, helped students identify areas to focus on for their SOLs and emphasized both teamwork and individual test-taking skills. See who came out on top in this year's Battle of the Brains!
