Improve attendance, boost success: Tips to combat absenteeism!
Chronic absenteeism in early education can hinder reading skills and social development. By sixth grade, it often predicts high school dropouts, affecting future academic and career prospects. You can improve your child's chances of success with these tips:
-
Establish consistent routines: A predictable morning routine reduces stress and eases transitions, while a bedtime routine ensures restful sleep for better focus in class.
-
Foster a positive attitude toward school: Show interest in your child's school day, praise their efforts, and celebrate achievements. Address any anxiety by listening empathetically and developing coping strategies together.
-
Address persistent school refusal: Identify underlying issues like bullying, academic difficulties, or anxiety. Seek help from a pediatrician or school psychologist if needed. Collaborate with the school to resolve bullying issues.
