I truly hope everyone is having a restful summer break. Thank you to all PWCS staff who worked tirelessly to prepare PWC schools for students and staff. I wish everyone a wonderful first few weeks of the new school year! I know firsthand that PWCS educators spent an extraordinary amount of time preparing classrooms and schools—thank you.
During this summer, I attended the VSBA Conference on Education to connect and learn about various topics. During this time, Board members attend various breakout groups to listen to presentations–one of the wonderful presenters was Ms. Stephanie Bretzke, the principal of Independence High School, whose presentation was entitled, “A Nontraditional Approach to High-Quality Work-Based Learning.”
Over the past few weeks, I was fortunate to listen to speakers and panelists at the Excellence and Equity in Education (EEE) conference where educational leaders within PWCS connect in a day of professional learning. I was also an attendee at the Launching, Learning, Leading (LLL) Induction Conference, where new educators spent the day connecting with PWCS–welcome all the new PWCS educators! I was also fortunate to listen to speakers and cheer for award winners at the Student Services and Post-Secondary Success Symposium: We Care . This symposium was a great opportunity to connect and listen to those who work in Student Services, celebrate successes, and express gratitude for their service.
Lastly, I was able to attend the Summer School Graduation. Attending graduations and celebrating graduates is an absolute privilege. I was honored to celebrate all 2023 High School Graduates, GED/ISAEP Graduates, 2023 Adult Education GED Graduates, and the National External Diploma Program Graduates. Congratulations, again, Class of 2023!
