The Back to School Packet is where parents/guardians can review emergency cards, update contact information, and complete annual policy reviews and acknowledgements. The packet is completed online in ParentVUE.
All families should complete the Back to School Packet as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, September 15, 2023.The information you provide will allow school staff to ensure the safety of your student this school year. Parents/guardians will need to complete the Back to School Packet before accessing student information in ParentVUE including class schedules and bus information.

The first day of school is Monday, August 21. The PWCS Back to School webpage is a comprehensive webpage where families can access important information to start the school year off right. Find bell schedules, school meals information, the PWCS Code of Behavior, transportation/bus information, student health information, and important forms and documents.

Important Information for Parents and Guardians
A new Virginia law requires school divisions to adopt policies to notify parents and guardians regarding sexually explicit content in instructional materials. The School Board adopted a policy and regulation to implement the law. See list of instructional materials that meet this requirement on this webpage.

Crisis and Emergency Preparedness in PWCS
PWCS is committed to ensuring safe and welcoming environments for students and staff. If a safety concern or crisis occurs in or near our schools, PWCS uses standard terms to communicate with families. We encourage you to become familiar with the terms.
Needs Assessment Survey for Parents/Guardians
PWCS is committed to supporting your students during their educational journey. To ensure we offer the best support to your student and remove barriers to learning, parents/guardians are asked to share information about their student’s social and emotional needs. This information will help us respond effectively to the emotional challenges many of our students encounter to help us ensure they have a successful school year. Please complete the Parent Needs Assessment by August 25, 2023.
➡️ Schools will also provide students in grades 3-12 an opportunity to complete a brief emotional needs assessment at the start of the school year. Visit the PWCS Student Needs Assessment webpage to review questions and learn more.
