Virginia parents can apply for tutoring microgrants
The Virginia Department of Education is now accepting applications from parents for tutoring microgrants for their children through the K-12 Learning Acceleration Grants program. The program provides $1,500 grants to parents of school-age children for tutoring in English, mathematics, science and history, as well as foreign languages needed to meet diploma requirements. Children from homes with family incomes at 300% or less of the federal poverty level could qualify for $3,000 grants.
The grant program is open to parents of any public, private, parochial or homeschooled K-12 student who lives in Virginia. To learn more and apply for a microgrant, visit the Virginia Department of Education's K-12 Learning Acceleration Grants page.

Volunteers are Needed for iCanSwim program at the PWCS Aquatic Center
From June 19 to June 23, 2023, Evan's Voice Community Center will be sponsoring the iCan Swim program at the PWCS Aquatics Center located on the campus of Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School. This program is designed to help individuals with disabilities, especially children, achieve their aquatic goals and learn valuable water safety skills during the weeklong program. Learn to speak English, earn a high school diploma, advance your opportunities through PWCS Adult Education summer classes and activities
Adult Education classes will be offered from July 10 - August 23. These classes are for adults 18 years and older who live in Prince William County, Manassas City and Manassas Park. Summer session classes will be held virtually with the exception of one in-person GED class and a Guest Service GOLD course. The last day to register is June 26.
The Global Welcome Center helps get families started in Prince William County Public Schools
Families new to the country and Prince William County can stop by the PWCS Global Welcome Center to get their child registered for school. The center also provides students with English proficiency testing to ensure they are placed with appropriate services in their schools. With two convenient locations in Manassas and Woodbridge, welcome center staff are ready to assist you and your students on the pathway to success.
