It was a celebration of educational excellence at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, where PWCS honored this year's outstanding educator finalists with a reception and award ceremony. Star Angel Oppong and John Galeano Del Castillo, two graduating seniors from Freedom High School, were emcees for the evening's festivities.
Student talent was showcased throughout the evening and included performances by the Freedom High School Eagle Consort, the Saunders Middle School Spartan Steppers, the C.D. Hylton High School Troubadours, and members of the Woodbridge High School Dance Company. Culinary students from Patriot High School provided the desserts for the reception.
The ceremony kicked off with the recognition of educators who received or renewed their National Board Certification, as well as recognition of our PWCS outstanding mentors and lead mentors. The event concluded with the presentation of the 2023 Novice Teacher, Teacher, and Principal of the Year awards. Katie Knight, community engagement officer with Apple Federal Credit Union, the sponsor for the event, presented each winner with a generous gift of $1,500.
