Celebrating National Youth Art Month in PWCS
PWCS recognizes the importance of art and arts education in school programs. Art, music, and the performing arts activities help students develop life skills including self-expression, problem solving, creativity, and individuality.
Kofi Dennis, a Master Teaching Artist with Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts, spent five days at Yorkshire Elementary School working with teachers to deliver lessons designed to enhance the learning experience through the performing arts. Read More >>

Peer-to-Peer tutoring in action at Woodbridge High School
The Viking Learning Center is a peer-to-peer tutoring program that takes place during flex-periods at Woodbridge High School. Student tutors supplement teacher instruction with peer-tutoring to reassure, reengage, and reinforce class content for struggling students. Through the Viking Academic Leadership Class, students learn how to become tutors to support their school community. Watch Video >>

Humphrey the Hamster promotes reading at Mullen Elementary School
The Mullen Elementary School community has a new furry friend making his rounds throughout the school. To support the shared reading of the book "The World, According to Humphrey" as part of the One School, One Book program, Mullen adopted their very own Humphrey, a golden hamster who visits different classes and creates excitement for reading. Saturday, March 11 - Special Education Annual Transition Fair Families are invited to attend this free in-person event at the Kelly Leadership Center to receive information and resources on employment and support services for transitioning youth and adult students with disabilities. Tuesday, March 21 - 5:30-7 p.m. - Summer Student Aide Job Fair
Students 16 years of age and older as of June 23, 2023 are invited to attend and apply for Student Aide positions. Student Aide positions are generally three-week long, part-time positions from July 10-28. Read more and apply >>
Thursday, March 30 - 7 p.m. Gifted Education Virtual Information Session Families will learn about the process used to identify students for gifted services in PWCS and the service model for gifted students. Register here >>
Get back on track toward earning a high school diploma or GED
Looking for options on getting your student or a young person you know re-engaged and re-enrolled in PWCS? Several in-person events are scheduled that provide students with the ability to re-enroll in an educational program or school that meets their individual needs.
