A "Rainy Day" project for Lake Ridge Elementary School students teaches weather concepts
It's National Earth Science Week (October 9 -15) and across PWCS, our second graders are studying changes in weather and weather patterns. Check out how Lake Ridge Elementary students used their STEM skills and had fun making rain gauges from plastic water bottles to use at home while continuing their learning.

Healthy meals are crucial to help our students thrive. Research shows children are getting their healthiest meals at school. The crunch heard across the school! — Marumsco Hills Elementary students taste test fresh vegetables and fruits
Students at Marumsco Hills Elementary School are able to sample different fruits and vegetables three days a week thanks to the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). The FFVP teaches students that fresh produce can be a healthy and delicious snack. Additionally, the program provides an opportunity for teachers and school administrators to provide nutrition education.

Sinclair Elementary School introduces a house system to promote positive behavior
A new house system at Sinclair Elementary School is encouraging good student behavior. Students are divided into “houses” and points are given to students for good deeds and good behavior. At the end of each term, points are tallied to determine the winning house.

Learn more about the Functional Behavior Assessment and the Behavior Intervention Plan
On Tuesday, October 25, the Parent Resource Center is holding two sessions that explore the Functional Behavior Assessment and the Behavior Intervention Plan (FBA/BIP), formal processes that help parents, teachers, and school professionals identify problem behaviors and work collaboratively to develop strategies that will improve or eliminate those behaviors.

Safety is the first priority in PWCS and is top of mind for our school bus drivers who work to see that 62,000 students are transported safely every day.
