Introducing the 2022-23 School Board Student Representatives
Young leaders are selected each year to represent PWCS students by serving as non-voting representatives on the School Board. This year's student representatives are active in their school community, playing roles in everything from Student Council associations to multicultural clubs, robotics and more.
Chance Williams, a senior at Forest Park High School, wants to help make sure that all students are both heard and understood.
In her second year as a representative, Daania Sharifi, a senior at Gainesville High School, hopes to continue helping students realize that their contributions are critical to the School Division.
Christian Daniels, a senior at C.D. Hylton High School, has a passion for using his voice to enact change for the greater good and hopes to do so in this role.
In addition to these three student representatives to the School Board, PWCS has a Student Senate, made up one appointed student from each high school.

During the month of September, PWCS is partnering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) through the “Together for Mental Health” campaign to raise awareness of suicide prevention. Our goal is to provide the school community and families with vital information and resources to assist in suicide prevention discussions and how to seek help from others.
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors who are part of the existing Lifeline network.

PWCS shares Needs Assessment survey
As our 2022-23 school year launches, we are asking parents/guardians of students in grades 3-12 to help us be prepared to support our students by completing a brief social emotional needs assessment. We recognize that additional support could be needed to remove barriers that impede learning. The assessment will close on September 16, 2022.
Schools will also provide students an opportunity to complete a brief emotional needs assessment. The data from this assessment and the data you provide as a parent/guardian will allow us to offer targeted support to students in need. This assessment will be given beginning September 6, 2022. If a student is identified as having an emotional support need, the parent/guardian will be contacted to discuss a plan for support during the school day. If you wish to review the assessment questions and learn more about opting your student out of this assessment, you may do so on the PWCS Student Needs Assessment Preview webpage.
Attention seniors and parents: Transcript test score opt-out forms available online
According to the Virginia Department of Education's "Regulations Governing Secondary School Transcripts," local school divisions must have a student's test record, including at least the highest score earned on college performance-related standardized tests like the SAT and ACT, on the student's secondary school transcript.
Parents and guardians may elect in writing to have their child's college entrance test score excluded from the student transcript (opt-out). Access the test score opt-out form.
