Summer Governor's Schools and Academies offer intensive educational experiences for high school students
PWCS was well represented by 60 rising juniors and seniors at Residential Governor's Schools held on college campuses around the state. In addition, 11 PWCS students attended the 2022 Governor’s World Language Academies. The Summer Residential Governor’s Schools (SRGS) provide PWCS high school juniors and seniors with intensive educational experiences, complementing the education they receive during the regular school year. Each school focuses on one special area of interest—agriculture, visual and performing arts; humanities; mathematics, science, and technology; life science and medicine. Acceptance into these programs is highly competitive, and involves completion of an extensive application, including essay writing and teacher recommendations. Read More >>

Spring 2022 Standards of Learning Test Results Posted in ParentVUE
Spring 2022 Standards of Learning (SOL) test results are now available in the SOL Test History section of ParentVUE. Families can log into their ParentVUE accounts and see their student’s SOL test scores from Spring 2022, as well as for SOL tests taken prior to that. Because of the availability of scores in ParentVUE, PWCS will not mail home paper copies of score reports this summer. Read more >>

School meals free only to qualifying schools and students in 2022-23 school year
A federal waiver that made school meals free to all students regardless of their family’s income ended June 30. This upcoming school year, only students that qualify for free and reduced meals or attend a school that falls under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), will receive free meals. Read more >>
Take advantage of Virginia's three-day sales tax holiday
Start planning now to stock up on back-to-school necessities and take advantage of Virginia’s three-day sales tax holiday to score some great bargains. On Friday, August 5, through Sunday, August 7, 2022, you can purchase school supplies, selling for $20 or less per item, and articles of clothing and footwear, selling for $100 or less per item, without paying sales tax. The savings are available for online and in-store purchases.
Student athletes take note!
Students and their parents must participate in annual concussion training in order to tryout and participate in athletics at the middle and high school levels. The online training module is open now.
