Oh what a night! PWCS celebrates this year's outstanding educators
PWCS rolled out the red carpet to honor this year's outstanding educator finalists with an elegant reception and award ceremony hosted at Gar-Field High School. The ceremony was masterfully led by Nathaniel Barfield and Emma Kerns, two seventh grade students from The Nokesville School.
Student talent was showcased throughout the evening and included performances by the Unity Reed High School Orchestra Ensemble and Forest Park High School Consort Orchestra and an inspirational dance performance by Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School’s Dance IV. Even the pre-ceremony reception highlighted the talents of the Potomac High School culinary students, who prepared a spectacular display of divine desserts.
The ceremony kicked off with National Board Certified Teachers being recognized for certifying or renewing their certification, followed by the Mentoring and Induction Program honoring mentors, lead mentors and new teachers. The event concluded with the presentation of the 2022 Teacher and Principal of the Year awards. Dr. Stewart Roberson, president and CEO of Moseley Architects, presented the Teacher and Principal of the Year with a generous gift of $1,500 each.

COVID-19 community update
PWCS is aware that the COVID-19 Community Level for Prince William County has recently entered “Medium” level for the spread of COVID-19 in the community as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). PWCS will continue to operate consistent with the mitigations and notifications that have been ongoing since February. Under the Medium Level, the CDC recommends the following: “Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines. Get tested if you have symptoms. Wear a mask if you have symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19. Wear a mask on public transportation. You may choose to wear a mask at any time as an additional precaution to protect yourself and others. If you are at high risk for severe illness, consider wearing a mask indoors in public and taking additional precautions.

Hylton High School participates in Between the Bells
As this year's Mental Health Awareness Month comes to end, PWCS is sharing an event C. D. Hylton High School organized in early May, spotlighting the importance of general mental health wellness. Between the Bells is an interactive program designed by To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA). The activity encourages high school students to initiate authentic conversations about mental health and to remind those who are struggling that they are not alone.
