Budget Priority Spotlight: Positive Culture and Climate |
Superintendent Dr. LaTanya D. McDade recently shared budget priorities for FY23, and one priority is fostering a positive culture and climate in our schools. Through the hiring of additional security personnel and nurses, and improving infrastructure, PWCS will provide learning environments that are welcoming, safe, and sustainable.

School event connects Gar-Field High School plumbing students with potential employers
Michael Carter, Gar-Field High School Plumbing program instructor, hosted a banquet for the Virginia Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association that allowed students to network with potential employers. Ray Toz, owner of Marines Services Co., said there are plenty of opportunities for interested students.
"It's actually what stunts the majority of our growth," said Toz. "By partnering with [PWCS], we're bringing someone in. We're teaching them a trade and hopefully building a lifelong partnership with that future employee.” Read more.
