The Prince William County School Board elected Adele Jackson to a one-year term as the Vice Chairman of the Board, effective January 12, 2022. Jackson was elected in November of 2019 to represent the Brentsville Magisterial District on the School Board. Read more. |
Battlefield High School student serves community at large

Brentsville District High School Turf Program awarded highest industry honor

Nonprofit project teaches life lessons to Fred M. Lynn Middle School students
In Jonathan Alsheimer’s seventh grade history classes at Fred M. Lynn Middle School, the industrialization curriculum is paired with a group project requiring students to create a mock business. Reflecting on a personal experience inspired Alsheimer to make a change to the project this school year, and instead have students create a mock nonprofit organization. This classroom exercise evolved into something larger, as Alsheimer, joined by Thomas Annunziata, a math teacher at Fred Lynn Middle, created From Kids to Kids, a nonprofit project that solicits donations to make gift boxes for children.

Lake Ridge Elementary School students use teamwork to build an igloo
Using strings tied to a rubber band, students were challenged to build an igloo out of plastic cups. Through their actions, students saw pull, push, force, and gravity in this hands-on science activity. Communication, problem solving, and teamwork were needed to move and stack the cups.

The Prince William County Human Rights Commission will celebrate Universal Human Rights Day virtually at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Superintendent McDade is scheduled as keynote speaker. The day will include the annual presentation of the Human Rights Awards given to members of the community who provide unique contributions to human and civil rights. Superintendent Dr. LaTanya D. McDade's first 100 days
Superintendent Dr. LaTanya D. McDade accomplished her goal of visiting all Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) within the first 100 days on the job. McDade, who joined PWCS in July, created a multi-phase approach to the start of her tenure as Superintendent of Schools. Part of that approach included hosting community events and listening tours, articulating her vision for PWCS, and developing a comprehensive strategic plan.
