November is observed as Family Engagement in Schools Month. PWCS has named Anna Houseworth as the principal of Ashland Elementary School. Houseworth has served as an assistant principal at Signal Hill Elementary School since 2018. Read more. |
Escape room offers an interactive challenge for Benton Middle School civics students
Diane Stinson and Amanda Babcock, library media specialists at Benton Middle School, challenged civics students to complete an escape room. This interactive activity allowed students to use their library research skills and knowledge of the curriculum to unlock a box that contained a class prize. Overall, it provided a fun and engaging way to review for an upcoming test.

PWCS provides excellent opportunities for students in elementary, middle, and high school to explore a wide variety of special programs in our schools. Specialty programs focus on career exploration, subject area concentration, and college/university preparation.

As the end of the year fast approaches, SPARK, the education foundation for Prince William County Public Schools, has set a goal to raise $25,000 for STEAM before 2021 ends. When you make your tax-deductible charitable donation between now and December 31, 2021, you will be supporting STEAM programs for students throughout the Division.

Make a splash— Apply to work at the PWCS Aquatics Center
Students: The Aquatics Center offers flexible hours, competitive pay, and it looks good on your college applications. The center also offers part-time jobs to parents and grandparents as lifeguards, water safety instructors, and front desk team members. Training is free.

Patriot High School treats first responders to breakfast and musical performances
Patriot High School recently hosted a First Responder Day celebration, complete with breakfast and musical performances. First responders were treated to performances from the Patriot marching band, choir, and orchestra and food from students in the school's culinary arts program.
“It’s really important that we recognize these folks,” said Emily Stevenson, the culinary arts instructor at Patriot. “They keep our society and our community running.”
November 8-12, 2021 is School Psychology Awareness Week. Thank you to our school psychologists for all they to do to help students across the Division feel safe and supported.
