The A-Street Bruins, a special group of students at Forest Park High School, recently needed a reservation to enter their fourth-period classroom. That’s because their teacher, Ashley Tayon, transformed their classroom into a café for the annual "book-tasting" event designed to help her students learn about book genres and discover which ones they loved the most.

Enterprise Elementary School celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with cultural corners
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Eliana Cabrera, an ESOL teacher at Enterprise Elementary, setup a cultural corner in the library showing clothing, hats, maps, and other items from Columbia. She brings her students into the library to share her culture and answer their questions.
Xinia Espinoza Rieu, a Spanish language teacher from Costa Rica, also shares her culture with her students. She has given a presentation on Costa Rica and life there to her students and discussed famous Hispanic Americans.
The response from the students has been very positive for both teachers as they celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Students enjoy when Cabrera wears her festival dress from Columbia. She said, “They find it beautiful and different.”
